Did You Expect Any Less?

Some people will do anything to own the latest consoles. I can totally understand the psychology behind this craze. In fact, during the 80’s and early 90’s, I was hardcore video gamer myself. No price was ever too high to prevent yours truly from buying the latest hardware.
I remember those endless nights playing Street Fighter on my Super Nintendo, while irritating my opponents with super cheap moves. However, there comes a time when every (REAL) gamer has to grow up, retire from consoles and move on to bigger and better things….like PC Games.
We all know demand is outweighing supply for next generation consoles. During the past three months, you’ve probably seen people lining up throughout the night so they can purchase a Nintendo Wii or a Playstation 3. There were even reports of people being robbed at gun point, while waiting for a store to open.
But would you go so far to fill up your bladder for a Nintendo Wii? A young woman had recently taken part in a radio contest, where participants were required to drink a large amount of water. Jennifer Lea Strange, was not a hardcore video gamer, she was trying to win the game system for her kids. She was hoping to go the longest time without urinating, hence, winning the Nintendo Wii.
Unfortunately, Jennifer died from water intoxication hours after the contest. Water intoxication occurs when the body takes in more water than it can remove, causing your electrolyte balance to be thrown off, while leading to cardiac arrest.
How sad! A tragic end for a young mother who left children behind. I wouldn’t be surprised if her kids never play video games again.
