Windows Vista is the newest operating system from Microsoft in more than 5 years. Heralded as a successor to Windows XP, Windows Vista is available in six editions, each packaged with numerous features for specific users. I ended up purchasing Windows Vista Ultimate for my new computer.

Windows Vista Ultimate Features:

  1. Integrated search capabilities
  2. Customized searches as “virtual folders”
  3. Choice of integrated anti-virus, spyware and malware protection
  4. 64-bit versions of the OS
  5. AERO “Glass” User Interface
  6. New versions of IE and Windows Media Player
  7. And numerous other features

Is it worth the upgrade? Unless you’re hardcore user or buying a new computer, upgrading to Windows Vista is not recommended. There’s not a single new feature that begs you to rush out and purchase a copy.  Despite the improved graphics and performance features, most users should stay away from this very pricey operating system, which is basically “Windows XP 2007″.

Is Windows Vista a disapointment?  Not really.  But after five years of development, I expected Microsoft to deliver something revolutionary rather than evolutionary.  Unfortunately, the only thing ultimate about Windows Vista Ultimate is the price.
