Imaginary Diva and I saw the Ghost Rider movie over the weekend. From the vengance filled antics to the whip-like chains, we both got our money’s worth.
If you go to see a movie about a biker with a flaming skull, throw your rationality out of the window. Think about it. Any movie based on a comic book character should not be taken very seriously. In fact, most people who read comic books are middle-aged men who refuse to grow up.
Ghost Rider is all about superpowers, theologies and lots of flames. The plot is similar to most Comic book flicks, where a normal human being discovers supernatural powers to help save the world. Yes, the entire movie may seem cheesy and over-the-top but it was never intended for people who enjoy watching chick flicks like “Bridget Jones Diary” or “The Lake House”. This high budget production is for testosterone freaks who like their movies filled with action sequences, special effects and hot tamales (aka. Eva Mendes).
As Johnny Blaze, Nicholas Cage brings out his quirky stature when he transforms into the bounty hunter of souls. It should come to no surprise that Cage finally took a role based on a comic book hero. In fact, his love for comic books has gone so far by naming his son after Superman (Kal-El).
Overall, Ghost Rider is an entertaining movie with cool special effects and interesting characters. If you want escapism and fantasy, this movie will take you on a wild ride through hell and back. It’s stupid fun without a lot of thinking.

I’ve pulled some pretty funny pranks during my teenage years. But none of them compares to a recent prank involving a special brownie recipe.
An 18 year old High School student from Texas is facing two felony charges for lacing brownies with laxatives and giving them to staff and fellow students. Collin Wayne Orth included an unspecified amount of laxatives while making the brownies, according to the criminal complaint.
Unfortunately, a race to the toilet occurred soon after the brownies were eaten. Staff members and five students reported symptoms, such as diarrhea, stomach cramps and bloody stools.
Orth is charged with felony adulteration resulting in bodily harm, a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine. A felony adulteration not resulting in bodily harm carries a maximum sentence of five years and/or a $10,000 fine.
Look at the bright side, if Orth is sent to prison, he can always apply for a Chef position in the cafeteria. Nothing beats having a fellow inmate critiquing your cooking abilities.
What a great way to start a promising career! Perhaps one day, Orth will make an appearance on the Iron Chef TV show.

It’s about time! The Stargate Atlantis (SGA) Season 2 DVD set is now available for pre-order. In the past, most release dates for Stargate DVDs (including SG-1) occurred during the October to November timeframe, but this latest release has been pushed back till March 6, 2007 due to all the special features included in the set. Worry no more! The long wait will be worth it!

Stargate Not For You? If not, perhaps you should go to Starbucks, watch the Outdoor Life Network and dream about
back packing in Europe
Fans will find numerous changes with season two, including new cast members, villains and twists within the story lines. I have to admit, the season 1 cliffhanger was probably the best I’ve seen for any show, thus making this DVD release a very painful wait, especially for people who don’t watch SGA on a weekly basis.
Stargate Atlantis is a very different show when compared to Stargate SG-1. Longtime fans have viewed the differences with heavy criticism due to writing and varying levels of character development. Nevertheless, I believe change is necessary for any spin off series to set itself apart. SGA is a relatively new show and the transition from SG-1 has not been a smooth experience. However, season 2 evolved with interesting developments and remained consistent to Stargate Fandom. Afterall, this is only a TV show and makes for great entertainment.
MGM did not hold back with the extra features. DVD extras include commentaries with each episode, photo galleries, production designs, numerous behind the scenes footage and a lot more. Most fans will enjoy these extra features as they delve deeper into the Stargate mythos.
If you’re a Stargate Fan or looking to get into the series, I highly reccomend the Stargate Atlantis - Season 2 DVD. It’s definately worth a purchase!
