My laptops have features and functions similar with desktop PC’s.  Known as desktop replacement notebooks, these systems are much larger than the average notebook with added weight and less portability but they offer a lot more performance.  However, when it comes to using multiple external displays, most notebooks are limited to one external one monitor.  This is a big drawback since my work requires multiple windows to be open simultaneously, meaning more than one external monitor is required.

After searching around for a solution, I ended up purchasing the Village Tronic VTBook for really cheap on eBay.  The package included a VTBook card, DVI-to-VGA adapter, software disc, and a carrying case.

The VTBook is perfect for connecting more than one monitor to a notebook.  Up to two monitors can be connected through use of a dual display cable.  All VGA, DVI and ADC Displays are supported.  In addition, if you have two slots, two VTBook cards, and two dual-display cables, you can connect up to four external monitors.

The VTBook supports a maximum DVI resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 and a maximum VGA resolution of 2,048 x 1,280, along with 80+ pre-defined video modes.  Wherever I go, my VTBook will connect with any monitor, ranging from video panels, LCD panels and projectors.

If you can’t part with your notebook, but yearn for the convenience of additional monitors, I highly recommend the VTBook by Village Tronic.
