Last weekend, Imaginary Diva and I finished our search for wedding rings.  We visited seven jewelry stores before finding the perfect set.  Since I’m a pretty simple guy, a fancy ring is really not necessary.  A ring that feels good on my finger is all that really matters to me.

My wedding band is a two-tone ring made from white gold with yellow gold running down the center.  This choice is a perfect expression of my personality.  For people who really know me, the white represents my youthful zest for life, while the yellow conveys the joy and happiness I have for Imaginary Diva.  Within some cultures, yellow is sacred, if not imperial.  This is how I look at my upcoming marriage.

Imaginary Diva ended up choosing a trinity set (3 diamond ring) as her wedding band.  It was a perfect choice to compliment her engagement ring.  She’s still giddy about her choice as dictated by constant reminders on an hourly basis.  No, I am not going to say how many carats are on the ring.  But suffice to say, the Imaginary Diva is very, very happy!

We’re both pleased with our choices.  The next couple weeks are going to be busy due to all the planning and organization.  I have another close relative who’s getting married this month, so our schedules are going to be pretty tight.  In the end, I know it’s going to be worth it!

I have always been a morning person and love running in the early morning.  Today, I enjoyed an incredible run in the forest with the sky bringing down rain.  You might have to wear extra clothing when you run in the morning, especially in the wet, but you also get more of the world to yourself.  It is simply the easiest time to carve out time for myself so I gladly take it.

We have decent weather in BC that has made it easier to get out of bed in the morning and it will get easier as spring returns.  For a lot of people, I am not sure why rain is an obstacle to running.  For cyclists, rain is a true obstacle and hazard.  But why do runners shy from it?

It is just a state of mind.  Within a few minutes of running in the rain, I feel just fine.  This is especially true with the new fabrics made just for such occasions.  It could be the clothes that runners sometimes wear.  For trail runners, there is the mud.  But none of those factors should really impede a runner.  The washer and dryer take care of the clothes and the hose can clean off the shoes.

I’m an active member of a running club.  My group is for all shapes, sizes, abilities, and ages.  It is a gradual improvement program that focuses on self confidence, covering the distance, and has absolutely nothing to do with speed.

I love Sweden!  The country has great looking women, decent hockey teams and quality furniture thanks to IKEA.  But I am scratching my head with their latest alternative energy proposal.
 
Umea Energi, a Swedish energy firm has proposed to use dead chickens to help generate electricity!  The company is seeking a permit to burn chicken carcasses from egg farms as fuel for power generating furnaces.  Company officials believe they have plenty of non-poultry sources and would use the dead chickens as a favor to the farmers.  It will take about 9,000 dead hens per year, along with other sources to generate a suitable source of electricity.

Now that’s what I called Fried Chicken!
