Maybe I’m getting older or simply don’t care anymore.  Perhaps I have too many priorities right now, thereby preventing me from passionately following the game of hockey on TV, especially concerning our local NHL team, the Vancouver Canucks, and their quest for the Stanley Cup.  In fact, I get more excited watching a UFC or PrideFC card on Pay-Per-View.

Civic pride has gone full bloom across the Province of British Columbia.  It’s hard not to notice an exorbitant amount of cars in traffic with Canucks flags, not to mention a plethora of team jerseys being worn by man, woman or child.  In fact, the mass honking of horns is a common occurrence after every victory.  It’s heard all across the Province.

I’ve spent a few minutes watching some games on TV.  Not a single moment of nervousness surrounded me as our team faced elimination with their first round opponent from Dallas.  I even fell asleep halfway through game 7 as the Canucks clinched the series.

In the end, I hope our local hockey team can lay claim to the Stanley Cup.  However, if they lose and get eliminated, I won’t be losing any sleep over it.
