I’ve spent the past month finishing off his first 5 novels.  Wow!  What a roller coaster ride.  His latest novel, “Protect and Defend, is scheduled for release on October 30, 2007.  I’ll be first in line to pick up a copy.

The main character in Flynn’s novels is Mitch Rapp, a highly skilled CIA assassin, who will stop at nothing to eliminate any terrorist or group willing to cause harm.  Rapp is seen as a no-nonsense guy who doesn’t take orders too well, especially from politicians with shady agendas.  He’s seen as an individual who is not afraid to speak his mind, no matter the consequences.

In Flynn’s fictitious Washington, politicians are seen as corrupt, self-serving individuals who stop at nothing to maintain or increase their powerbase.  Democrats are looked upon as ”Nut Hugging” Liberals with a “peace at any price” attitude, which is apparently, not far from the real thing.

In light of the real war on Terrorism, the violent measures embraced by Rapp is used without conscience.  Moreover, Flynn’s writing allow various scenarios seem possible and all too real.  Laws must be broken, enemies must be tortured and people must be killed in order to prevent a wide-scale catastrophe from taking place.  This “win at no cost” attitude is  prevalent in Rapp’s actions in order to defeat terrorism, and, ultimately, save innocent lives in the process.

If you love reading political thrillers, I would definitely recommend Vince Flynn and his Mitch Rapp series.  His attention to detail, knowledge of high technology, and military hardware will keep you reading throughout the night.  You will not be disappointed (unless you’re a bleeding heart Liberal who believes in everlasting world peace).

As a big-time football fan, the Running Back position has always been my favorite.  And without a shadow of a doubt (at least in my honest opinion), Barry Sanders was the greatest player to ever play this position.

Though short at 5’8, no other player had the ability to outwit defenders based on sheer mobility and speed.  Throughout his career, a broken play was consistently turned in a highlight reel, thanks to his ability to create turmoil at the line of scrimmage.  And best of all, he was a first-class guy, even till his untimely retirement during the prime of his career. 

I don’t know if there will ever be another running back like Barry Sanders, but rest assured, his legacy will be remembered for a long time to come.  Check out the highlight reel and you will know what I mean.

My wife constantly nags me about my Crazy T-Shirt collection from CafePress.  She thinks my short attention span and sporadic behaviour stem from a long term exposure to video games.  Apparently, these idiosyncrasies has diluted my sense of fashion.

4. High Score:  This black and orange shirt is highlighted by a familiar looking alien from the Space Invaders Video Game.  A testament to the golden era of gaming, when claiming the high score actually meant something.

5. Gamer:  A retro design reminiscent of the 70’s.  Without the bell bottom pants of course!

As an avid runner, who runs miles and miles a day, I tend to look for a shoe with long-term durability and comfort.  My current shoe, the Asics Gel-Kinsei 1, have become popular among runners for their all-around comfort, durability and performance.  After logging hundreds of miles with my original pair, there’s still a lot of life left in it, plus my knees and ankles never felt better thanks to improved shock absorption and wing construction for stability.
