Did You Expect Any Less?

Every once and a while, I venture off to a local electronic store to purchase a PC game for personal entertainment. In fact, my latest purchase, “World In Conflict“, does not disappoint at all.
From “Command and Conquer” to “StarCraft”, I’ve played my fair share of Real Time Strategy (RTS) games on the PC. Apparently, those games from yesteryear pale in comparison to Massive Entertainment’s newest title.
As a child of the 80’s, I lived through a spending fiasco known as the Cold War. This was a time when two superpowers (USA and USSR) decided to build a stockpile of nuclear wepaons for global domination. By the late 80’s, Communism eventually lost this spending war due to their poor excuse of an economic system.
World In Conflict takes a different spin with the history books, therby asking another “What if” question. What if the USSR attacked the United States of America? How would this scenario play out? An impossible notion for most Westerners that never lined up for basic rations or worshipped a statue of Lenin, but after playing World In Conflict for a couple hours, this scenario seemed quite plausible and very scary.
Whew! Thank goodness the capitalist pigs good guys(?) really won in the end.
Overall, World In Conflict is the Most Intense RTS Game Ever! Imagine being able to control an entire army from a bird’s eye perspective or given the ability to zoom right down to the action itself. Not only are the graphics outstanding, the storyline and strategical depth of this game is nothing short but amazing. There’s also an abundance of music and inside jokes from the 80’s. If you grew up during this era, you will probably understand the meaning of it all.
I am not going write a full write a review on this game because there’s enough reviews on the Internet to make your stomach full. And they all agree, this game seriously kicks ass.
Simply watch the following video and you will know what I mean. By the way, the video is actual in-game footage.
If there’s one PC game you absolutely need to buy, World In Conflict is the right choice. Every fan-boy of the 80’s can now live out their childhood fantasies by carpet bombing Commies into oblivion.
