Make Up for d00ds? Eww!!!

I don’t know about you but I consider myself a real d00d with a very big masculine streak.  To prove my point, I’ve relegated my fashion line to mostly jeans and t-shirts.  Furthermore, you will never find me wearing common Yuppie brands such as ”Lew-ee Voo-town”, “Goo-Chee”, “Hall-Leester” and, the most lamest brand of them all, “Loo-Loo Lem-Mawn”.   I would rather wear “NASCAR” inspired fashion of my favourite driver than be seen with a typical name brand.

Over at my Wife’s Blog, she’s always writing about the latest and greatest things about being a Diva.  And to further agitate my senses, she also wrote up an interesting article about ”Clinique Skin Supplies for Men”.  Check out the marketing statement for this so-called cosmetic line for d00ds.

“NEW Clinique Skin Supplies for Men M Cover is a revolutionary corrector that can hide a multitude of sins…Equipped with ingredients to help soothe, moisturise and keep skin feeling and looking comfortable, this concealer will help to keep flaws and dark spots undetectable.”

Aww…Wasn’t that such a pretty marketing statement?  I really loved the first sentence: ”…can hide a multitude of sins”.

What type of sins are they trying to convey?  This statement reads like a Harlequin Romance Novel; a perfect way for Johnny “to cover up” before he heads out to his construction job with the boys.

If I want to see lipstick on men, I would attend a KISS concert

Any self-respecting guy would be scared off with such a statment.  If a cosmetic company, such as Clinique, would like me to get in touch with my feminine side, I would rather put my money toward something else, like tickets to a football game.

Sure, I value the long-term outlook of my skin by using cleansers and moisturizers on daily basis.  However, I beg to question any male-centric product, accompanied with a statement that tries to make me feel like a female supermodel (and look like one too!).

To be fair, it wouldn’t surprise me if the new Clinique Skin Supplies for Men is a workable solution to help maintain healthy skin.  If the right situation arises (when I’m 80 years old), I may try the product in the future.  But for now, I’ll stick to my usual cleansing solutions and facial creams.

Unless, you’re a typical yuppie, who lives in an overpriced downtown condominium, perhaps the new Clinique Skin Supplies for Men is a perfect solution for you.  But for me, I would rather perform some research on my own, than fall prey to such lame marketing statements.

I know it’s only March but Christmas came a little early for me today.  The feature length movie for Stargate SG-1 - “The Ark of Truth” has been released for DVD.  As a dedicated fan of the TV series, it was an easy decision to pick up a copy for myself, especially since the TV series ended abruptly last Spring.  The movie begins where season 10 left off as the SG-1 team searches for a long lost artifact to help their battle against “the Ori”.

From the musical score to the epic battle scenes, the production team did a great job with the finished product and, of course, the conclusion to the Ori storyline.  Overall, this feature length movie will not disappoint longtime fans of the show, since “The Ark of Truth” has a higher production budget as compared to a regular TV episode of SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis.

If you’re a dedicated follower of the Stargate Franchise, a copy of Stargate SG-1 – The Ark of Truth will make a great addition to your DVD collection.  It’s like going back to an old friend, who’s always reliable and steadfast but getting better all the time.

And just don’t think the adventure will end after this movie.  Later this year, a second Stargate SG-1 movie will be released called “Continuum”.  I can’t wait!!!

1 Year Later…

Wow!  How time flies!  Imaginary Diva and I are fast approaching our first year anniversary as Husband and Wife.  Overall, we remain grateful for all the blessings provided to us the past year.

A lot has changed since we tied the knot.  Most of these changes have been positive and life changing experiences for both of us.  And despite being forced to wear a wedding ring all the time ;-) , I remain essentially the same person after a year and the same can be said for my wife.

Remember the episode of “Friends”, where Ross gives Chandler advice on how to snuggle with his girlfriend, and then get her away from him after she falls asleep?  Hehe…I’ve already mastered this technique after a year!

Imaginary Diva refuses to mold yours truly into her vision of a perfect man.  Moreover, you will never find me trying to change her into a perfect housewife.  In fact, we’ve learnt to accept each others idiosyncracies that make us distinct and original.

My close friends typically view me as an energetic person and a joker.  In the presence of people I really don’t know, I’m pretty much a serious person who keeps communication to a minimum or minimizes contact whenever possible (even I find these situations humorous at times).  And yes, I am very thankful my wife has embraced these personality traits of mine…for better or worse. :-)
