Did You Expect Any Less?

Forget about booking a ticket to the Pegasus Galaxy. After five successful seasons on cable television, Stargate: Atlantis has officially been cancelled. The Sci Fi Network and MGM recently announced that the popular TV show will finally end as a weekly series after its current season. Stargate Atlantis co-creator Brad Wright said in a recent interview on GateWorld.net, “…Rather than canceling the show because of under-performance, the Powers That Be decided to go out on top while Atlantis is still popular enough to support the release of DVD movies.”.

The Cancellation of Stargate: Atlantis comes a day after
I purchased the season 4 DVD set
Don’t reach out for those tissues yet as Stargate Atlantis will continue to live on with direct-to-DVD movies. Stargate Atlantis co-creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Copper also issued a statement, saying “We’re excited to tell Atlantis stories on a bigger canvas. The success of the two original Stargate direct-to-video movies ‘The Ark Of Truth’ and ‘Continuum’ have shown us the opportunities that the movie format offers….we have plans for both SG-1 and Atlantis to remain vital as we expand the franchise.”
As a fan of Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, the cancellation of both shows will leave an empty void with my TV viewing experience. Nevertheless, I’ll continue to purchase the DVD movies with much anticipation so I can get my wormhole fix. Plus, moving to a direct-to-DVD format is not a bad idea at all, since the recent success of SG-1 movies has brought a cinematic feel that you could otherwise not accomplish with a weekly TV show.
On a positive note, the end of Atlantis means a new Stargate TV series for the Sci-Fi Channel called “Stargate: Universe”. The Hollywood Reporter claims an announcement is pending soon. Wright and Cooper will continue to serve as executive producers and writers, while Stargate: Universe will most likely have a “Younger Vibe” to attract a younger audience.
Oooh…I can’t wait!!! My Stargate fix can now continue on a weekly basis!

I’m not a little boy anymore but my so-called adulthood will not stop me from pasting reusable stickers in my bedroom. These cute Nintendo Wall Graphics from ThinkGeek
will make any room a lot more cheerful. With 3 sets to choose from, they make a perfect gift for new or old school gamers!
Heck, if the wife won’t allow you to post them in the master bedroom, you can always give them to your kid or display them in the recreation room, along with the rest of your video games!
You can choose from themes such as Donkey Kong, Super Mario Brothers, and of course, even more Super Mario Brothers. I am really having a hard time choosing which set to buy. In fact, I may buy them all!
To purchase the Nintendo Wall Graphics, you can head over to ThinkGeek.com.

I know Autumn is only a couple weeks away but I might as well start shopping for warmer clothes right now. To be honest, I love the fall clothing season. The pastel colours, combined with a warm look, bring out passionate flair that you could otherwise not find in any other season.
Bleh…
Casting my sexy urban lifestyle aside, what could be more cooler than a handmade Mario Brothers scarf to wear on a cool Autumn day? To remedy this situation, an aspiring knitter from Georgia is using her God given talents to knit a scarf based on the very first level from the legendary video game.

Details notwithstanding, I hope to one day conjure enough courage to produce a scarf based on a video game. How does a Frogger scarf sound?
In the meantime, you can check out the Mario Scarf Blog to see how the project is doing. Now I better run off to the bookstore to pick up a Do-It-Yourself handbook on knitting.

The 2015 BMW ZX-6 Concept Car is supposed to be a car of the future? Um…I hope not.
Maybe I’m getting older. Perhaps my brain cells are deteriorating beyond a point where I can hardly remember the finer things in life, like fine food or eye catching cars. Unfortunately, the ZX-6 is an aerodynamic monstrosity that fails to appeal my senses. Nevertheless, I’ll give BMW credit for pushing the envelope in terms of visionary design. Too bad they didn’t include any resemblance of good taste with their overall look.

2015 BMW ZX-6: The Hub Caps Look Like a Toilet Bowl Cover
Designed by Jai Ho Yoo and Lukas Vanek, I’m not fully convinced that similar designs will make it on the road by 2015. Maybe 50 to 100 year from now but do you honestly expect to find a similar design in 7 years? Call me insane but BMW is really pushing the limit.
Oh well, at least the aerodynamics and integrated hubcaps look pretty interesting. Just don’t expect to find yours truly driving one of these futuristic Pintos.
