Did You Expect Any Less?

As an avid runner, who runs miles and miles a day, I tend to look for a shoe with long-term durability and comfort. My current shoe, the Asics Gel-Kinsei 1, have become popular among runners for their all-around comfort, durability and performance. After logging hundreds of miles with my original pair, there’s still a lot of life left in it, plus my knees and ankles never felt better thanks to improved shock absorption and wing construction for stability.
The All New Asics Gel-Kinsei 2 - Overhyped Performance?
Now there’s a new version of the shoe with a lot more improvements, and yes, technology. The Asics Gel-Kinsei 2 features extra dual-density gel cushioning, along with other enhancements to help you run even harder.
Additional features include asymmetric lacing to follow the shape of your foot, nano coating of metal for insulation and a Propulsion Trusstic System which helps forward propulsion. And yes, the shoe also looks very sharp!
Like most purchases, high-concept technology notwithstanding, savvy consumers should go on a trial run before making a decision. Perhaps in the not-so-distant future I’ll try out a new pair myself. I hope my feet (and knees) react positively with the new shoe like it did with the old one.

A friend recently invited me to play a round of Golf. I kindly thanked him for the invite but I refused to go. To be honest, I really can’t stand Golf. It’s the most pathetic game ever created, not to mention, a very expensive pastime. I always laugh when people say “Golf is a sport you can never master”. Like I really care.
Golf is not a real sport. A real sport requires sweat, constant movement and skill. Flicking your wrist with a titanium shaft doesn’t make you an athlete. A fat slob, like John Daly, can swing a golf club, raid the liquor cabinet and stuff 20 burritos down his throat, while finishing a round of golf. Does this make him an ideal athlete or a sportsman? I think not.

Whether you run a marathon, shoot a basket or fight for a winning touchdown, a real sport will have you sweating hard at the end of the game. And when you step on top of the podium, you had better be gasping for air before claiming that shiny trophy. Golf doesn’t give you this opportunity.
Blackjack requires intelligence and skill, but not movement nor sweat. Flying a kite requires movement and sweat, but requires no skill or intelligence. And Golf? Golf requires skill and movement, but little intelligence, and very little sweat.
Golf is equivalent to playing Darts. At least with Darts, you don’t have to pay 100 bucks per round, plus a set of darts is cheaper than those overpriced Golf clubs gathering dust in your garage.

UFC 71 is finally over! Chuck Liddell’s loss should come to no surprise for longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) fans; it reinforces claims that Liddell was a less than credible champion and simply a marketing tool for the UFC (a big fish in a little pond of less than credible fighters). Finally, new light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has proven the real Sharks from PrideFC have finally entered the octagon.
The UFC’s acquisition of fighters from PrideFC will bring a rude awakening to American bred UFC fighters with little or no international experience. Now with Dan “Hollywood” Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun” Ruas entering the Octagon very soon, we’ll finally know who’s a contender or a pretender from the UFC.
It’s a great time to be a MMA fan right now as current UFC fighters will finally match up against PrideFC fighters with real wars behind their belt. UFC 71 has proven it is only the beginning.

You can dodge a bullet the first time but sooner or later, the next one is going to hit you and strike hard.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) has witnessed enormous growth the past 3 years, thanks to increased media coverage on TV and Pay-Per-View. In fact, ESPN magazine recently had the UFC’s biggest star, Chuck Liddell, on its cover along with very interesting article focusing on him and MMA. It didn’t take long for other sporting magazines to follow. Now Sports Illustrated has finally recognized MMA by placing a rising star on their cover (Roger Huerta), along with an in depth article on how the UFC is changing the sporting landscape.

If you’re a fan of MMA, I would definitely recommend reading the article at SI.com. Titled “The New Main Event”, L. John Wertheim carefully examines, in a very neutral tone, the growth and prominence MMA has experienced. Overall, he doesn’t exactly praise MMA but doesn’t look down upon it either (unlike most sport writers who can’t live beyond the big four sporting organizations).
My thoughts on the article are very positive as MMA will live and die based on its leadership and direction. If the sport continues to ignore mistakes made by boxing, viewers will continue to enjoy this phenomenon for a very long time.
